The Mom Spot: Make Peace With What You Have…

I was really missing my home town over the holidays. We’re used to having snow for Christmas and drinking hot cocoa while watching the frightful weather outside.
A couple of weeks ago, on my way to a Mom-and-Me activity, I got this feeling…a really comfortable feeling. It was almost like an “accepting” feeling.
My hometown may be my “home”town, but I am really happy to call Williamsburg my home now. I love all the activities that are available. It’s really a family haven…something to do all-the-time.
I remember getting quite homesick one day, I was having a conversation with my best friend from home. I was complaining about some things and her advice was for me to make a list of things that I’m looking for…community, activities, shopping, opportunities, etc…

Albeit, after going through my list of “wants” I realized that pretty much everything I was looking for was right here in front of me, right where I’m already living…

I will trade the snow for this great weather ANY DAY! Also, there are so many things that make living in the Hampton Roads Area special.

I think everyone is looking for their own thing. Looking to satisfy some specific need or expectation they may be carrying around.
My advice to all the not-so-happy-at-heart-about-where-you-live. Give yourself a little time to be homesick…then take my friend’s advice: make a list of all your wants.

You may be pretty surprised at how much is already in front of you. You may also be surprised at how satisfying it is to make peace with what you have…

Here are some of our favorite places in Williamsburg:

Chick Fil-A Mooretown Rd. {Mom-and-Me Thursday mornings}, Barnes and Noble in New Town (Storytime Tuesday mornings}, Sweet Frog, Kidsburg, The James City Library {on Croaker Rd}, The Little Creek Reservoir Park {a.k.a. Our Park}
