Busch Gardens Williamsburg announces ‘Discovery Dollars’ program

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced the arrival of Discovery Dollars, a new and convenient way to pay for purchases when visiting the theme park. The program features a bar-coded waterproof wristband that will replace the use of cash for purchases inside the park. The program is very similar to what is offered at The Great Wolf Lodge resort and is an excellent way to keep from losing or damaging money and credit cards via water rides and attractions.

Guests are able to open a complimentary account at any ticket window and pre-load a specific amount that is loaded to the wristband or linked directly to their credit card. The option to have a set amount for each family member via their own wristband is available as well,  which is a great way to control how much a pre-teen or teenager may spend. Discovery Dollar participants are able to pay for purchases by scanning the wristband’s barcode at the park’s restaurants and retails shops. The wristband option is not available to pay for in-park games.

Another fairly new and convenient option for the park is their new app made for smart phones. Available for Busch Gardens Williamsburg, as well as Tampa, the app features an interactive park map (no need to keep up with the paper version!), event/show times, ride wait times and more. The app is free and can be downloaded via iTunes or Google Play.
