Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg is quickly becoming one of the top family destinations in Hampton Roads. Many families would love to vacation at the resort, but the top reason I hear from those who have yet to visit is: “It’s too expensive!” I have to admit, I used to think the resort was expensive as well. That was until I really looked at the value of what you are getting and how to do it the right way. Here are some tips to make that stay at Great Wolf Lodge attainable and affordable for your family.
1. Book your stay in the middle of the week & avoid holidays.
Prices are always lower during the week versus weekends and holidays. I was told by a Great Wolf employee that Wednesdays tend to be the cheapest days to stay.
2. Stay only ONE night
Now I know that may seem like a bummer, but most guests average a one-night stay. The great thing about Great Wolf is although you are only staying one night, you have TWO days to enjoy the water park and the rest of the resort. You are allowed to use the water park as early as 1 p.m. the day that you check in. Even if your room is not ready, head to the water park and get a jump start on the fun!
The morning you check out, pack up your car with your belongings – but leave out your swimsuit! You have until the water park closes the day you checkout to enjoy all the water-related fun you can handle. There are changing areas & showers available for your convenience.
You have to keep in mind that the per night cost includes the suite and 2 days of water park passes. It’s a great value!
3. Go in on a room with friends and/or family
If you are interested in staying more than one night – split the cost! There are a variety of suite options at Great Wolf depending on the size of your party. Share the cost of the room (and other expenses!) with your family and friends to make it more affordable.
4. Use your employee discount
If you or your spouse are employees of Huntington Ingalls, take advantage of the Preferred Pack Discount. Log-in to the employee benefits page for the code. Other Hampton Roads employers may offer a discount as well, so be sure to check with your company’s benefits office.
5. Pack your own snacks and foods to save on dining costs.
Refrigerators and microwaves are available in every suite. Utilize the ability to pack your own food or snacks to eat while at the lodge and to save money. There is also a variety of fast food (Sonic, Burger King, Chick-Fil-A) and inexpensive restaurants (IHOP) near the lodge. A Wal-Mart Supercenter is also right up the street.
There has been a variety of great deals for Great Wolf Lodge stays on Groupon and LivingSocial coupon sites; more than I have ever seen before! Keep an eye out for any great deals. Some even include dining credit for the resort.
7. Sign up for the ePack.
You will be the first to be notified of any special sales or deals via email!
The best source of all things Great Wolf, including deals and more, is their social media channels. Stay connected and up to date with everything that is happening at the resorts.
9. Have any questions? Ask-A-Mom!
