It was announced yesterday via Gov. Terry McAuliffe that Carnival Cruise Lines will return to Norfolk in 2015. The cruise line announced the departure of the Carnival Glory from the Norfolk area last year, due to ECA regulations. A spokesman for Carnival shared in a statement, “Specific ship, date and itinerary information is still being finalized and more specific details are expected to be announced this spring. We would like to thank the port, and local and state leadership, for their continued partnership and we greatly look forward to returning to Norfolk next year.”
This is great news for me and my family! We rushed to take the last cruise from Norfolk last October after the announcement of Carnival Glory pulling out of the area. It is so much more convenient and economical to cruise from our home port. It would be even better if they added different itineraries! For now we will celebrate this small victory. I know Carnival has gotten a bad rap the last few years, but out of all of our six cruises with them, we have never had a bad experience.
The Carnival Splendor will take the place of the Carnival Glory once Carnival returns next year. Cruises to the Bahamas and Bermuda will also be added to the schedule. For more info on the update of the return of Carnival Cruise Lines to Hampton Roads, click here.
